Pastor's Blog

The blog of Senior Leader - Dave Food
We all have greatness in ourselves somewhere, Dave wants to see individuals, churches and businesses fulfilling purpose, dreams and visions. I enjoy helping people, groups, churches and businesses discover and invest in skills, sustainability and gifts, uncovering a factor X, and seeing it released.

Opening up new ministries, developing new people, engaging with new vision. I enjoy walking the cusp of Business and Ministry, involved in the Software, Education and the Supply Chain Industry for 25 plus years, leading a "Gate-keeping" Church (Runnymede Christian Fellowship) in Egham, Surrey.

I am a passionate networker, who wants to see Church and Community lead by vision and example to change the global landscape. Married to Julia, with New Testament attitude to household, we have a great passion for making a difference in young people's lives. We continue to build international relationships through Lifelinks International , AoG and others.

Dave provides consultancy and training on developing leadership, clarifying the message and building strategically. A Christian voice both musically and Prophetically to The Church, The Community and The Nations, specifically Uganda, Nigeria, Mexico and central America, but also into the US, Canada and Europe.

Light at Work

Light at Work

You are the light of the world—Matthew 5:14

The strongest evidence that we are where God wants us—in our jobs, in our careers, in our cities—is simply that we’re there. God Almighty knows where we are. He sees us (Luke 12:6-7). He is with us (1 Corinthians 3:16). There is a plan. King David sang to God, “in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:16). So, where we are—right now—is no accident. And until further notice (which may come), we’ve got to assume that where we are is where he wants us to be . . . for specific reasons, for his specific purposes.

High on that list of God’s purposes is that we’re his light in our existing regions of influence and impact (Matthew 5:14). Jesus tells us to not hide the light that radiates from us when we follow him: “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Our lights dim, however, when we get too comfortable with the cultures of the places where we find ourselves—in our jobs, in our careers, in our cities. We must, therefore, resist adoption, whether conscious or subconscious, of the prevailing beliefs, codes, or values of those places. We follow Christ. We believe him. That’s our code. Our values are his values.

The Church Needs Leadership

The church needs a strong leadership.

Notice that the word used is “leadership”—not “leader.” The focus is on the function of leadership, not on the person or personality of the leader. Too many congregations and pastors who react against heroic leadership models are throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

The church needs excellent leaders that exhibit good leadership. The church must make a shift in its understanding of congregational leadership.
