The Power of God at work in me 

There is something remarkable stirring within every believer that the world simply cannot manufacture, buy, or counterfeit. It is the power of God Himself, dwelling in ordinary human beings and equipping them to do extraordinary things. Paul captured it perfectly when he wrote to the Ephesians that God is able to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20). Not power handed to us from a distance, but power actively at work inside us, right now, in the middle of our everyday lives. That is the staggering reality that far too many Christians are living completely unaware of.

We are not left to fumble along on our own strength, scraping together enough willpower to get through the week. The same Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead has taken up residence within us. Romans 8:11 makes that extraordinary claim without apology. Think about what it means. The resurrection was not a gentle event. It was the single most explosive demonstration of divine power in human history, and that same power now lives and breathes in you. It is not a metaphor. It is not poetic encouragement. It is a theological fact.
But here is where it gets wonderfully practical. God does not simply give us power as a vague spiritual feeling. He gives us specific tools to carry that power into the world. These are what we might call His power tools, and they are available to every single believer regardless of background, temperament, or track record.

The first and perhaps most underused of these tools is prayer. Not the polite, covering-the-basics kind of prayer, but the bold, persistent, throne-approaching prayer that James describes when he says "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16). Prayer is not a passive activity. It is the mechanism by which we plug into the very source of all power, aligning our will with God's and releasing something in the spiritual realm that changes things in the natural one.

Then there is the Word of God, which Hebrews 4:12 describes as living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword. This is not a dusty religious text. It is a living instrument that, when taken seriously and applied faithfully, cuts through confusion, demolishes lies, and renews the mind. The Word is God's power tool for transformation. When we read it with expectation and allow it to speak into our actual circumstances, it does not simply inform us. It reshapes us.

Alongside prayer and the Word sits the gift of the Holy Spirit, who is not merely a comforter in the emotional sense but a dynamic, guiding, empowering presence. Jesus told His disciples in Acts 1:8 that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. The Greek word used there is dunamis, the root from which we get our word dynamite. This is not a tame or domesticated power. It is power capable of transforming timid fishermen into fearless preachers, and it is the very same power accessible to every believer today.

What makes all of this so moving is that God chose to work this way on purpose. He did not establish a system where a select few spiritual giants carry the power on behalf of everyone else. He distributed His Spirit to the whole body. First Corinthians 12 makes clear that every member has been given gifts and equipped for works that matter. You are not a passive spectator in God's purposes. You are a carrier of His presence, fitted with tools that the world has no adequate response to.

The question worth sitting with is simply this: are we actually picking these tools up and using them? The power is there. The tools are available. God's commitment to working in and through His people has never wavered. What is required of us is the willingness to believe that He meant what He said, to show up in prayer with genuine faith, to open the Word expecting to encounter a living God, and to yield moment by moment to the Spirit who is already at work within us. The power of God in us is not a future promise. It is a present reality, and it is waiting to be released.

Welcome to Runnymede Christian Fellowship, an Egham Church

Runnymede Christian Fellowship is a church based in Egham but serving a much larger geographical area. Those who call us home come from EghamVirginia Water, Staines, Englefield Green, Egham Hythe, Pooley Green, Maidenhead, Heathrow, Slough, Ashford, Thorpe, Windsor, Woking and beyond.

Our church is a community of believers who gather regularly to share life and demonstrate God's love. We do this by encouraging and serving each other and the community. We believe in the power of prayer and are always happy to pray for you.
 

Church - What to expect

Our Sunday service is available to stream online at 11:00 a.m. You can join us on Livestream or via Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube or X (Twitter).

The Sunday Service is now held at Strodes College, Strodes College Lane in Egham open to all, so if you would like to join us, please feel free to do so. If you have any questions, please call us on 01784 637010.

We run a physical Sunday School most weeks. If you would like your children to receive a weekly Sunday School teaching pack that you can do from home, please email us at admin@e-runnymede.co.uk so that we can send you the materials.
 

Church on Sunday at Strodes College, Egham


 Prophetic word for students -

Our Sunday service starts at 11:00 a.m. and typically lasts about 90 minutes.

We begin each service with lively worship, featuring songs from around the world, followed by inspiring, Bible-based teaching. All our sermons are recorded and are available as a podcast after the service.

We have a monthly cycle of Sunday services, with our Communion Service being on the first Sunday of each month and an All-Age All-Nation Service on the second Sunday of each month. Our other Sunday services include Spirit-focused and teaching services.

We have consciously adopted being a blended church, that is, both online and face-to-face. You are welcome to join us on Livestream or via Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, or X (Twitter), or you can catch up and watch the recordings later.
 

Joining us in person

Visiting a new and unfamiliar church for the first time can be intimidating, but we want to ensure you feel welcome and enjoy your time with us. A friendly face will be waiting to meet you at the entrance and welcome you. 

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for coffee and prayer. Our Sunday Service starts at 11:00 a.m. and typically runs for about 90 minutes, normally followed by tea and coffee.
 

Driving and Car Parking

Our Sunday Morning Service is now held at Strodes College, Strodes College Lane, Egham, TW20 9DR, which has ample parking. Click on the link for directions to RCF.

We have plenty of parking spaces right outside the building. Spaces are reserved near the entrance for anyone with mobility issues (those with a blue badge). Please let us know if you need to use one of these spaces, have any special needs, or require any assistance.

The car parking area is a public area, so please ensure that your children are under your control and that, for their safety, they do not run around in the car park.
 

Visiting with children?

Everyone is welcome at RCF. We encourage everyone, regardless of age, to join the service. We offer Sunday School, which begins after worship and runs concurrently with the sermon for 30 to 40 minutes, serving children aged 4 to 12. On the second Sunday of each month, we have a shorter All-Aged All Nations Service, where the children stay for the worship and the sermon.
 

After Church

We chat over coffee and biscuits after church on the first, third, fourth and fifth Sundays. If you want to get more acquainted, why not join us for a Sunday lunch with some of our members? The first meal is on us (Voucher provided).  Please contact us and let us know. We would love to share a meal and get to know you better!
